The First Years Soft Trainer Seat Review

I see that many people don't like this seat, so I have to put in my two cents. I love this seat. All three of my kids used it for potty training, plus my mom had one at her house that all the grandkids used with success. It is so much easier than dealing with a separate child's toilet. With a step-stool, the toddler can get to the toilet all by him/herself.
As for cleaning, first teach your boy to point DOWN. When they get to a regular toilet, if they haven't learned this skill, it will come out the front of the adult toilet under the seat there...then it gets on their clothes, down the front of the toilet, etc. Girls, make sure they pull their pants down far enough and sit back far enough on the seat. No seat in the world can correct these simple pottying errors.
Even then, kids will be kids and they are learning. IF there is a leak, just pull the seat apart, rinse it in the sink and put it back. If it gets gross, separate the two parts and put them in the dishwasher (don't run the heated dry).
I've never had a problem with this seat. Even when the sticky pads on the bottom wear out, it still works great.

My daughter, 20 months, has been using this potty regularly for 2 months. It has been great and she loves it! The rubber around the bottom really does secure it to the floor and it is super easy to clean. No funny parts or crevices to get dirty.
She is of average size and this potty fits her quite well. I originally got this one because I wanted to teach her to sit on in while she was still quite small (14 months). But she has not out grown it at all and we won't need to get another one before she moves up to the big potty (with a ring). She enjoys it so much that sometimes she will sit on it to read books during naked time. The splash gaurd/hump in front does not bother her at all; she has learned to get on and off of it gracefully. I am planning to use it as a travel potty once she graduates to using the big potty/ring at home.

This potty has been a lifesaver on many occasions during potty training! Everything locks into place very well, so that it's sturdy enough for a child to sit on (not sure how much weight it will hold). The only drawback for me is that I have difficulty unlocking the storage areas. Maybe they lock into place a little *too* well! But I generally leave the potty set up in the trunk of the van, and leave the storage area with the extra ziploc bags ajar (doesn't affect sturdiness) so that I can quickly get it ready. I have ziploc bags in one storage area, and plastic grocery bags in the other so that I can put used ziplocs in a bag ... don't need to be seen walking around with a bag of pee. :)

Safety 1st Jack Potty Review

This potty works great for us. I chose not to hook up the cables because i thought the sounds and lights would be a distraction from the potty's main purpose - to collect pee & poop. Now, after a couple months of success on the potty, i'm ready to hook the cables so my daughter can put on a show while giving back to nature.

This potty is great for girls. The first potty i bought had the little pee blocker for boys (i bought it thinking that i'd have it for my next child if i have a boy). But i put that potty back in the box because my daughter didn't sit comfortably in the seat with that thing between her legs. In her Safty 1st Jack potty she's cozy enough to sit for minutes at a time 'reading' books while tending to her business. I consider this a great buy (for toddler girls).

I rate it 4 instead of 5 because the potty seems short. My rather short daughter (in the 20-percentile range in height) was almost two when she began using the potty and she looked big sitting on the potty then -- her butt actually sits lower than her knees. So a normal-sized 3 year old might almost be squatting when they sit on this potty. But all other new pottys i've seen are of similar height so that shouldn't matter.
